My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy | Review: Ep. 3

Explosive Laughter

NouCome has been one of my favorite shows this season since it started. It’s one of the few shows that manages to get me laughing out loud every week and I could not be happier for it. There’s a lack of comedies this season, but so far I’ve felt that NouCome does enough to fill any gap that leaves. Let’s see if that stays true for the third episode.

vlc 2013-10-23 22-00-54-86The third episode closes out the “Make Yukihira laugh” mission and starts the next. People who watched the preview last week will know that it has to do with panties. Specifically, the new mission requires Kanade to get a peak at a newly introduced characters panties, which is essentially what the episode is about.

Throughout this a absurd series of events follows as usual, with Kanade ending up in trouble for choices as well as how he’s dealing with the mission as a whole.

This episode is heavier on slapstick gags than the previous two, which works in the episode’s favor to avoid running stale. Overall, the jokes are strong overall, even if I did found last week a bit funnier than this week as a whole.

vlc 2013-10-23 22-03-26-85If I have any complaint, it’s that I’m worried that this show will turn into a mission of the week thing where the mission aspect of the show gets weak as a result. Hopefully we will have some missions spread out and more fleshed out rather than just dumping them all into twenty minute solutions. While Yukihira’s laughing mission didn’t end last week, it’s resolved at the start of this making it essentially as long as a standard episode would be.

vlc 2013-10-23 22-11-46-87But as long as the show stays strong with good and entertaining characters, which it currently does masterfully, I’m certain the show will do fine. This episode was a great laugh and I did like the new character introduced a whole bunch as well.

Another thing I’m enjoying is the post-credit alternative endings that have seemingly become standard now, it just gives you that extra satisfaction of seeing how things could have ended up.

I know the show has its detractors who really don’t enjoy it, and that’s fine, but if you’re like me and have found the last two episodes funny. Don’t worry for a second, this episode is just as great as you would want it to be. So far NouCome is the funniest show this season, no competition (pun intended).

Episode Rating: 5/5 – Only 5 Points.
